Inspired by the lunar significance within ancient Maya cosmology, this ring honors the moon as a sacred force governing time, fertility, water, and renewal. The moon was closely associated with Ix Chel, a principal Maya deity revered as the goddess of the moon, medicine, weaving, childbirth, and cyclical transformation; a divine embodiment of creation and regeneration.
Handcrafted in polished .925 sterling silver and set with natural mother-of-pearl, the piece reflects the moon’s luminous surface and its ever-changing phases. In Mesoamerica, iridescent shell materials such as mother-of-pearl were deeply valued and symbolized water, life, femininity, and the boundary between the earthly and the sacred.
The circular form represents continuity and eternal return, while the luminous inlay evokes lunar light as a guide through darkness and transition.
