This piece is inspired by the stingless Melipona Bee, tended by Mayan communities for centuries. These bees endemic to Yucatan are famous for the healing benefits of their honey.

This bee is a stingless species that the Mayan people have cultivated for hundreds of years, we call it "Xunán Kab", which means "The Sacred Bee" due to the healing properties of its honey. Such is the importance of bees that Ancient Mayans, held between four and six ceremonies a year in their honor.
