Melipona Bee Ring
Symbolism
Melipona Bee Ring
From the “Animal Totems" Collection
Guardian of Healing. Emissary of the Ancients.
Inspired by the Melipona bee, a stingless species native to the Yucatán Peninsula and revered by the Maya for centuries, this pendant honors the quiet labor of nature and the sacred wisdom it carries.
Known as Xunán Kab, “The Honored Lady Bee”; this bee was more than a pollinator. She was a healer, a symbol of community, and a spiritual messenger. The honey of the Melipona was considered medicinal and sacred, used in ceremonies, offerings, and rites of renewal. So important were these bees that the ancient Maya held up to six rituals a year in their name.
This piece is not only a tribute to biodiversity, it is a symbol of feminine power, ancestral healing, and the harmony between human life and the sacred cycles of nature.

Craftsmanship
At Tikalkun, every piece is a ritual—a tribute to the ancient civilizations that shaped our world. We don’t just craft jewelry; we translate sacred symbols into silver—symbols of power, wisdom, and transformation that still echo through time.
Each design begins with a search. Tikal, our founder and jeweler, dives deep into Mesoamerican iconography until he finds a symbol that calls to be reborn. With modern tools like 3D modeling and hands guided by reverence, we shape every piece as a bridge between past and present.
We are a family working with heart and soul. Every detail is handled with care, every line drawn with respect. There’s no rush, no mass production—only pieces that carry the breath of civilizations that saw life as sacred.
Tikalkun doesn’t follow trends. It honors memory. Because some wear jewelry—but others carry legacy.
